As we approach our second birthday at El Colectivo 506, we’re proud to launch our second annual Inside Out edition—in which we hand our digital magazine over to the rural entrepreneurs who make Costa Rican run.

We love doing this, but it’s also urgent: more than two years into this pandemic, the rural Costa Rica we love is still on the line. In many ways, small rural enterprises are always on the line. They depend on the attention and support of those who believe that the thoughtful growth of rural community tourism is essential for a more sustainable and equitable country and world.

Travelers might assume the places and people they love will be waiting for them when they next arrive, but entrepreneurs know that nothing is guaranteed.

Our dream is that the many stories, photos and videos we’ll share this month will help attract some new potential visitors to the communities we’ll feature. Once more, we’re telling Costa Rica’s story “from the inside out” by placing the mic, pen and camera in the hands of the rural entrepreneurs who know this country better than almost anyone.

Are you an entrepreneur? Join the party by creating a free profile on our rural tourism directory, directorio506.com (for more info, message us at 8506.1506 and/or jump into our Emprendedores 506 WhatsApp Group). We’re drawing all this month’s stories from there, and those who’ve created profiles will also receive free training opportunities and other resources.

Do you love traveling in Costa Rica—or dreaming about it? Enjoy this month’s stories, share, and tell us about the people and places you’d love to see featured.

Onward!
