On Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2, the third edition of BOOKAFEST will be held at Avenida Escazú, San José. We are proud to share that El Colectivo 506 will be part of this “open-air book fair.”
When you visit the event—which will feature authors, bookstores and entrepreneurs from all over the country—keep an eye out for us! We’ll be there to share our stories about the people who are solving problems in Costa Rica and Central America, so anyone looking to add a positive outlook to 2025 is invited to stop by our stand. You’ll also be able to purchase our books and stickers to support our constructive journalism in 2025 and help us fund more independent journalists in our region.
According to the founder of the event, author Daniel Fernández, BOOKAFEST is “a creative space that is held annually so that authors and entrepreneurs can share their creations. For attendees, it is a unique experience where they will be able to meet the creators, hear the stories behind each book or article, and acquire their works and creations at the best price.”
This year’s event will have 50 stands and more than 70 exhibitors. Daniel says that “BOOKAFEST 2025 will offer a free space where the public can sample talent in culture, literarture and entrepreneurship, open to all audiences.” In addition to books, participants will offer “art, stuffed animals and toys, stationery, bookbinding, illustration, baked goods, and much more.”
At our stand, El Colectivo 506, the first national solutions journalism outlet in Central America, you’ll find:
- Free access to stories about the people and organizations that are solving problems in Costa Rica and Latin America (our “library of what works”)
- Our bilingual book “Media Naranja: Love Stories with a Costa Rican Twist,” for sale in black and white to support our independent newsroom (1,000 colones +VAT)
